JMC’s Committee discusses problems faced by public in getting benefits of schemes

JAMMU, Jan 5: Social Justice Standing Committee (SJSC) of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) held a meeting under the chairmanship of its Chairman, Jeet Kumar Angral and discussed the action taken on issues raised in the previous meeting.
In meeting, JMC Councillors discussed schemes with representatives of different departments and talked about problems being faced by the general public in getting benefits of these schemes.
Chairman Angral said the Committee with help of its members has been working hard in providing help to the people they need and in ensuring them benefits of various schemes of the Government.
He said it was also due to the effort of the Committee that pension cases pending from years have been approved and the beneficiaries have started receiving money.
Angral said that under PMAY scheme, where the first instalment which is credited after the completion of 1st stage of construction should be paid in advance so that those who do not have any means can start construction of their houses immediately.
He stressed upon the need of implementation of Basic Service Fund Head in JMC for which the Committee has already taken the issue several time with higher authorities and also in general house but unfortunately there is no progress in this regard so far.
The Chairman called it as a genuine demand which is also in accordance with the Municipal Act 2000 of JMC and appealed to J&K Lieutenant Governor to take cognizance of the matter as because of this many resolution passed by JMC’s general house are pending and the poor are not able to get their benefits.
In vote of thanks Jeet Angral and Sudhir Bali, JMC Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) hoped that officials of different departments and committee members will work together for uplifting and betterment of weaker sections of the society.
Committee members Councillors-Tripta Devi, Ritu Choudhary, Rama, Sham Lal, Ajay Gupta, Kuldeep Singh and Subhash Sharma along with officers from various departments including Akanksha Kalsotra, CDPO; Narinder Kour, Deputy Director CAPD; Manjit Singh, Teshil Officer Social Welfare Department; F.A Qazi, Deputy General Manager H&UDD; Rajeshwar Singh Jamwal, Assistant Director Social Welfare Department; Ashok Sharma, Administration Assistant Red Cross; Tina Sharma, Assistant Project Officer JUDA; Archana Bhat, Assistant Project Officer JUDA and JMC Revenue Officer, Ashwani Sudan; S.K Gupta, Senior Law Officer, JMC were also present in the meeting.
