JMC seizes over 3 truck-loads of goods in anti-encroachment drive

JAMMU, Mar 23: Over 3 truck-loads of goods was seized today by Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) in its anti-encroachment drive conducted along Jammu- Pathankot National Highway (NH) in Digiana area.

The drive was conducted by the JMC in association with Traffic Police of J&K, after receiving complaints of encroachment of service lanes from various quarters. During the drive which was conducted right from Satwari to Digiana, the enforcement team of JMC under the supervision of Atul Gupta (secretary) and Manisha (ACR) cleared service lanes of the National Highway.
The team seized all the goods including agriculture/construction tools kept by the shopkeepers on the service lanes. Besides, all the rehris and make-shift shops were removed from the service lanes. In total, around 3-4 truck-loads of goods were seized by the JMC team during its drive.
Meanwhile, the Traffic Police team led by Deputy SP Traffic South, Bikram Kumar challaned over one dozen vehicles for parking in service lanes or wrong parking, thereby disrupting smooth traffic movement. The team also listed 3 vehicles.
