JMC launches week-long Clean Jammu City Abhiyan

JAMMU, Sept 26: To mark the first anniversary of “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) launched week-long ‘Clean Jammu City Abhiyan’.

The Abhiyan was inaugurated by Rajesh Gupta, MLA, Jammu East and other dignitaries including Charanjeet Singh Khalsa, MLC, Yudhvir Sethi, Chairman, Sanatan Dharam Natak Samaj, Mandeep Kaur, Commissioner, JMC, Baldev Khullar, President, Raghunath Bazaar Association, Presidents of various Market Associations and members of Lions Club Jammu Royal.

On the occasion, an oath was administered for cleanliness, wherein, it was pledged by all to keep the environment neat and clean and to spare 100 hours every year to dedicate himself/herself for doing the cleanliness and hoped that this step would lead to make India clean.

A play was also presented by the Natrang highlighting the importance of cleanliness around us.

A rally comprising of children from various schools and colleges was flagged off by MLA Rajesh Gupta which passed through various areas of the City and culminated at Veer Marg Jammu.

The Delhi Public School has adopted the Shahidi Chowk area for its cleanliness. Lion Club Jammu Royal offered saplings to all the students for plantation in their surrounding areas.

During the rally, the Bazaar Associations assured that they will provide full cooperation and try their level best to keep the bazaars clean.
