JMC launches sanitation drive

JAMMU, Oct 21: A drive was conducted by Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Kiran Wattal today which started from Panjtirthi area and culminated at Purani Mandi Chowk.
Commissioner, JMC reviewed the progress of sanitation work for which he has earlier visited the same area two times along with the team of officers of JMC comprising of Assistant Commissioner (Revenue), Health Officer, Municipal Veterinary Officer, Executive Engineers and other field staff from the Corporation.
He made a surprise visit to the Government quarters area Poonch House, Panjtirthi where he visited on Momo workshop and all the unhygienic utensils were captured for creating unhygienic conditions. The surplus reharies lying in the premises of Pooch House were also seized. Mr Wattal passed immediate directives to officers to destroy them.
Various deputation met him and they were quiet satisfy about the initiatives taken by Commissioner to make the Jammu neat and clean. Mr Wattal was accompanied by Bimla Luthra, MLA
Mrs Luthra carried out various repairs renovation work of different lanes of Hakeem Paras Ram lane at Jullaka Mohalla Ward No. 2.
Meanwhile a team led by Municipal Veterinary Officer, JMC conducted a special drive in the areas of Trikuta Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Channi Himmat, Jewel, Prem Nagar etc on the eve of Diwali. During the drive 30 quintal of milk was checked and fine to the tune of Rs. 3700 has been imposed to the milk shopkeepers/sweet sellers for creating unhygienic conditions in their supplies and 50 kg sweets were got destroyed, so that people could get pure and hygienic eatable sweet items on the eve of Diwali.
