JAMMU, Dec 7: Apni Party provincial president Women Wing Namrta Sharma has condemned Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) for its failure to develop Gandhi Nagar constituency.
“The constituency is considered as one of the posh areas of Jammu district, but it still lacks basic amenities, street lights, hygiene and cleanliness and has pathetic road condition as JMC seems inactive in Gandhi Nagar,” said Namrta while addressing a public meeting at Diagana Camp.
Namrta said that the roads of this posh area are in pathetic condition. She said that the garbage can be seen scattered in the residential colonies especially at Diagana Camp and it shows the non-serious approach of the Corporation towards the cleanliness of the City and its wards.
“The Smart City is a distant dream for the people who were expecting development, basic amenities, greenery, cleanliness, hygiene, smooth roads and other basic civic amenities. However, it may take a decade for the Corporation to provide these facilities to the people,” she added.
Namrta said that these sufferings of the people have become a routine and officials hardly gave any heed to their concerns. “Therefore, it becomes imperative to hold assembly polls so that an elected Government can provide facilities to the people,” she asserted adding the bureaucracy has added to the suffering of the people and they are behaving like rulers not as civil servants.
She expressed serious concern over the poor response to the problems of the public. Namrta, however, assured that their demands and problems will be highlighted before the concerned authorities for their early redressal.
The meeting was organized by vice president Women Wing Jammu Province Pavneet Kour and District president Sarabjeet Kour. Prominent among those participated in the meeting include District vice presidents Amrit Kour and Vaibhav Mattoo and District secretary Abhishek Goswami.
