JMC employees suspend strike, to resume work from today

JAMMU, June 9: Employees of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today suspended their strike after the assurance of the Municipal Commissioner.
Addressing a press conference here today, Rinku Gill, president Civic Safai Karamchari Union (CSKU) along with representatives of Sanitary Supervisors’ Union, Drivers and Cleaners Union and Clerical Union of JMC, said that after 3rd and final round of the meeting with Commissioner JMC, Joint Commissioner (Adm), Chief Accounts Officer, Assistant Commissioner Revenue and Secretary JMC, they are satisfied over the agreement reached between them.
Gill said after some positive action and assurances by the authorities, they have unanimously decided to suspend the strike till further notice. He said that all the JMC employees will resume their routine work from tomorrow morning but warned the authorities to stick on the agreement and fulfill their demands as decided in the meeting.
Pertinent to mention here that the whole Jammu City has turned into a garbage dump just in 2 days after the JMC employees including Safai Karamcharis went on strike on Friday morning demanding re-organization of the JMC, regularization of 33 contractual drivers, 200 Safai Karamcharis, Computer Operators and Technical Assistants/Surveyors working in the Corporation and filling vacant post of Safai Karamcharis, conducting DPC of all cadre employees, scrapping of outsourcing of wards, NGO system etc.
