JAMMU, May 3: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) employees held a protest here today and warned to go on strike from May 5.
Large number of safaikaramcharies, drivers and clerical staff assembled in the premises of JMC and raised slogans in favour of their demands.
While addressing the gathering, Rinku Gill, President Civic Safaikaramchari Union, Ranjit Singh, President, Drivers and Cleaners Union and Rohit George, President, Clerical Union of JMC stated that numbers of times they met Municipal Commissioner and submitted their demands but no positive action has been taken by JMC administration.
They stated that despite lapse of over four months, no action has been taken regarding charter of demands of safaikaramchari as well as other municipal employees.
They demanded re-organization of the JMC, scrapping of NGO system in JMC, deployment of municipal employees in wards instead of parking lots, regularization of contractual drivers and issuance of DPC promotion orders of municipal employees of various cadres.
If the demands are not redress, then we will go on strike from May 5, they warned.
