JMC demolishes illegal structures

JAMMU, Mar 24: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) demolished illegal structures.
As per official spokesman, on the directions of Commissioner JMC, a demolition drive under the provision of J&K COBO Act 1988 was under taken at Channi Himmat and Kanak Mandi areas.
In Channi Himmat, the unauthorized erected pillars were demolished and walls raised on first floor of the structure were broken, the spokesman said, adding that in Kanak Mandi, a disputed floor slab was punctured by the electric drill machine and hammers and walls were also demolished as heavy machinery could not be deployed there due to congested streets.
The whole exercise was done under the supervision of higher JMC officials and in the presence of SDPO City and Duty Magistrate deployed by DC Jammu and SSP Jammu respectively.
The Commissioner JMC further appealed to the general public to refrain from raising illegal constructions and get building plans approved for commercial as well as for residential purposes and raise building according to approved building plan, failing which action as warranted under Jammu and Kashmir Control of Building Operation Act 1988 and other Acts in vogue viz Jammu and Kashmir, Municipal Corporation Act 2000 will be taken against the violators including sealing and demolition of the illegal structures.
