JAMMU, Feb 27: Avny Lavasa, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) along with Municipal Veterinary Officer (MVO), JMC visited the Municipal Animal Care Centre (MACC), Roop Nagar, and reviewed the sterilization programme and other allied activities.
She discussed various issues with doctors deputed at MACC, Roop Nagar from Animal Husbandry Department. Avny Lavasa directed MVO to take immediate steps for improvement and internal issues in the Centre. She also instructed the MVO and doctors to speed up the work of sterilization programme to immediately control the menace of stray dogs.
The Commissioner further directed for establishment of complaint cell at MACC, Roop Nagar, so that the general public can easily register their complaints and timely disposal can be done thereof. She planted a tree on the occasion and directed MVO and his staff for undertaking extensive plantation along the periphery of the Animal Care Centre for providing congenial atmosphere to the animals and animal lovers.
During the visit, Davinder Kaur Madaan, senior vice president, SPCA Jammu was also present. He gave suggestions for more improvement of MACC, Roop Nagar and for the welfare of speechless animals.
