JMC Commissioner conducts inspection drive in old city

JAMMU, Nov 20: Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Avny Lavasa today conducted an inspection drive with regard to sanitation in the old city.
She was accompanied by concerned sanitation officers/staff. During the inspection drive, which was conducted in the areas viz. Raghunath Bazar, City Chowk, Pahari Mohalla, Parade, Pacca Danga and adjoining areas, Lavasa interacted with different market associations and listened to their issues with regard to sanitation. She issued on spot directions to the concerned for maintaining proper sanitation in the areas as number of visitors visited every day in these areas.
During the drive, a number of shopkeepers were challaned for littering and violating the yellow line rules. The Commissioner assured the market associations that JMC will provide upto mark sanitation facilities in their respective markets/areas but for that they have to join hands with JMC and also realize their responsibilities for proper sanitation and upkeep in their areas.
Commissioner, JMC further apprised the residents as well as market associations about Solid Waste Management. She also took stock of functioning of autos deployed for collection of door to door garbage and directed the concerned for proper utilization of autos so that garbage can be collected from every nook and corner. She appealed all the residents of the city to extend their helping hands to JMC in maintaining proper sanitation.
