JKTF holds virtual meeting, discusses issues of teaching fraternity

JAMMU, Sept 6: The Jammu and Kashmir Teachers’ Forum (JKTF) today held a significant meeting through virtual mode under the leadership of its State President, Mohd Ashraf Sheikh.
The meeting deliberated at length on the long-pending and pressing issues confronting the teaching fraternity of the Union Territory, issues that have created deep resentment among teachers and adversely affected the smooth functioning of the school education system.
During the deliberations, members raised several urgent matters requiring immediate attention from the School Education Department. Foremost among these was the convening of Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meetings for the elevation of Teachers to Masters in Jammu Province.
The Forum also strongly resented the non-clearance of one-time exemption files which have been pending for months, thereby depriving eligible teachers of their rightful benefits. Another major concern was the long-delayed Annual Transfer Drive (ATD) of Masters, which despite repeated assurances, has not been implemented in its true spirit.
Addressing the gathering, Mohd Ashraf Sheikh stressed that these issues are not merely service-related grievances but are directly linked to the larger cause of quality education in J&K.
The meeting also underscored the urgent need for confirmation of in-charge lecturers. Sheikh termed this denial of confirmation as an injustice and pressed for expediting the process without further delay. He further highlighted the necessity of convening DPCs for promotions at multiple levels—including Masters to Headmasters, Headmasters to Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs), and Lecturers of various grades, besides the adjustment of Principals.
Another pressing issue discussed was the release of the mutual transfer list of Teachers Grade-II and others , as many applicants have been waiting for action on their requests for months. Sheikh warned that such delays not only lower teacher morale but also obstruct rationalization of staff, ultimately affecting the academic environment in schools.
The meeting was attended by Mehraj ul Din Zargar (UT Chairman), Mir Bashir Ahmed (UT General Secretary), Rafaquit Hussain Malik (UT Senior Vice President), Mohd Mahroof Choudhary, Gh Mohi-ul-Din, Mehmood ul Rayaz Bhat, Neetan Kalyan, Raman Kumar Sharma, Lokesh Sharma, Sanjeet Sharma, Mahroof Zargar, Tariq Amin Naik, Joginder Singh, Ranjeet Singh, Jalil Ahmed, Nassir Ahmed Mir, Amarjeet Singh, Sadiq Poswal and all the district presidents.
