JKSPA seeks LG’s intervention for redressal of pensioners’ grievances

JAMMU, Jan 17: The J&K State Pensioners Association submitted a memorandum to Lt Governor G C Murmu seeking his priority intervention to impress upon the concerned authorities to address and redress Pensioners’ grievances, especially the Pre-2006 ones.
Krishan Singh, President of JKSPA, alleged that in J&K, the concerned authorities have put the just and genuine grievances of pensioners, especially the pre-2006 ones, in the back burner. Even then they are hoping against hopes waiting for desired attention of the authorities to attend to their long overdue grievances, he added.
In the memorandum, the JKSPA has demanded payment of arrears from January to June 2009 of 6 percent DA installment released from January 2009 which stands paid to the employees and post-2006 pensions as well long back, benefits of post upgradation to those retired before 2003, enhancement of Medical Allowance at par with Central Government pensioners/employees, speeding up the process of handling revision of pension cases under formulation II of Govt order No.22 F of 2018 by the office of Accountant General Jammu / Srinagar.
The Association also sought exemption from levying Income Tax on the pension and pensionery benefits on the analogy that ceiling of income for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) has been raised from Rs 4.5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh per annum.
The JKSPA sought priority intervention of the Lt Governor for early settlement of the Pensioners’ grievances and hoped a positive response from the Government.
