SRINAGAR, Dec 5: The employees of J&K State Forest Corporation (JKSFC) today staged a protest against the non-payment of their salaries for last more than four months now.
Scores of employees assembled in the Press Enclave said that they are facing immense hardship due to the callousness of the Government.
They warned that if their salaries are not released they will be forced to stage protest in front of Raj Bhavan in Jammu on December 16.
As per a handout issued here, the protest was led by the President of the All J&K State Forest Corporation Employees Union Bashir Ahmad Bhat who stated that the Government has released around Rs 300 crores as grant and aid but to no avail.
The employees said that while the Government is not releasing the aid and grant, the Corporation has generated at least 80 crore rupees so far as revenue, but they continue to suffer.
“The Government has not released the amount so far despite the management of the Forest Corporation completing all the formalities,” they said, adding that they have been forced to come out of roads to press for their demands.
They said that the Government has taken around 2500 employees of the Corporation for granted.
“It is ironical that in the last 2 years, around 30 employees of the corporation have died, but the Government has not even released any compensation to their families nor has been any of family members of theirs given the employment,” they said.
They also said that the files of the daily wagers working in the department for last more than 30 years are gathering dust in the Civil Secretariat and the Government is not taking any note of it.
