JKSCERT organizes 3-day workshop for competency based assessment

JAMMU, Nov 27: The Jammu and Kashmir State Council of Educational Research and Training, JKSCERT, Divisional Office Jammu, organised a transformative 3-day workshop for Competency- Based Assessment, with effect from 25th to 27th November.
Spearheaded by Assessment Cell of Academic Unit-III, the workshop aimed at enhancing the proficiency of educators in designing and implementing assessment strategies that align with the principles of competency-based education. The workshop witnessed an active participation of 50 distinguished educators from 10 districts of Jammu division.
Prof Sindhu Kapoor, Joint Director, SCERT, Jammu division, formally inaugurated the workshop and emphasised the relevance of competency-based assessment as a cornerstone of quality education. She encouraged the participants to embrace cutting-edge methodologies to foster a more meaningful and outcome-oriented learning environment aligned with the goals of NEP-2020 to ensure holistic development of students.
An incisive deliberation was made by Bindia Bhalwal, Coordinator, who precisely elaborated theoretical and practical dimensions of competency -based assessment. A notable session was conducted by Rakesh Chobber, Associate Coordinator, who explained the importance of designing questions and linking them to specific competencies and learning outcomes.
Over the course of three days, participants were engaged in hands-on activities to design question- banks aligned with competencies and integrate formative and summative assessments effectively. Participants were divided into groups, each mentored by the faculty members of SCERT.
The program culminated in a formal valedictory function, presided over by Joint Director, SCERT, who lauded the participants’ active involvement and encouraged them to create a learner- centered assessment system. Certificates of participation were awarded to the attendees.
The workshop was seamlessly executed with the support of team members including Manu Vasudeva, Dr Sandeep Singh, Dr Balgar Singh, Rohit Sharma, Shamim Nazki, Rukhsana Gulbadan, Rukhsana Koser, Dr Bhuvi, Farhat, Dr Seema Zakir, Dr Jyoti Sudan and Arsh Kour. A formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr Neeraj Jandiyal Associate Professor.
