JKSAC, MJR-47 regret delay in cash relief disbursement

JAMMU, July 14: MJR-47 and Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) have regretted the delay being caused by the Government in providing cash relief as announced by the Prime Minister.
In a joint meeting of these organizations of displaced persons, the executive members discussed the latest status of disbursement of Prime Minister Relief package for POJK DP’s of 1947 and the problems being faced by them in this regard.
Most of the members pointed out that the disbursement process and direct cash transfer is being inordinately delayed and is erratic. Even after a lapse of six months, a mere 4000 plus claims have been verified and forwarded to the Centre Govt for disbursal against which only a few beneficiaries have received the cash relief so far and that too, not as per the serial numbers as exist in the approved list made public by the authorities.
This is creating lot of confusion and frustration among the applicants who are going time and again to PRO office to enquire about the reasons being ignored for payment. Many DP’s have complained that some outside elements have come up and are demanding money to get their claims verified and expedited for payment.
There is no proper procedure to intimate any deficiency in the claim applications to the concerned. The applicant who had filed their application 3-4 months back neither have any intimation in this regard nor do they find their names in the approved list.
The latest notice issued by PRO Jammu on July 9, 2017 in news papers is not clear. It gives a confusing message and can be read as in violation of the advisory issued by the Divisional Commissioner Jammu. DPs’ bodies had requested the authorities to issue only one form to each DP family and keep on record of such issues to avoid duplication, but no such procedure has been adopted and this has created present chaotic situation.
Almost two years passed since the package of Rs 2000 crore was announced by PM but till date less than one tenth of the claims have been verified and the Govt is sleeping over the real recommendations of Rs 25 lakh and Rs 30 lakh by the State Govt and JPC and other demands and issues of DP’s of 1947. They appealed the
Govt to review the whole process of disbursement and take necessary corrective measures.
