JAMMU,  Feb 1: Senior BJP leader and Legislator, Ashok Khajuria today raised serious allegations against ‘top NC leader’ claiming that J&K State land worth crores of rupees at Amritsar has been sold by him while Government revealed that about 1379 kanals of State land worth hundreds of crores has been illegally occupied by some people at Delhi, Sirsa in Haryana, Mumbai and Amritsar.
The matter came to light on the question of National Conference Legislator, Shehnaz Ganai, which was raised by another NC Member Qaiser Jamsheed Lone in the Upper House today in her absence. The question and subsequent supplementaries generated lot of heat in the ‘House of Elders’, where members alleged that several times House Committees were constituted in the Lower and as well as in Upper House but for the last more than decade, surprisingly, no any committee has filed report in any House. They said many members paid visit to  these places including Kolkatta, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Amritsar and Delhi on public exchequer but they have failed to submit reports.
Chairman  Legislative Council Haji Anayat Ali also took serious note of the matter and directed the members of  committee to submit the same as early as possible. BJP Member and grandson of Late Maharaja Hari Singh, Ajatshatru Singh said these properties belonged to late Maharaja Hari Singh and then came under State Government. They have failed to protect the same. He asked the Minister for Education Altaf Bukhari, responding on behalf of Chief Minister to disclose names of those who sold or grabbed these properties. Qaiser Lone also demanded that Government should disclose names of the people who have occupied these properties.
BJP Legislator Ashok Khajuria suddenly stood up and pointing towards Qaiser Jamsheed Lone alleged, “Your top leader has sold huge land at Amritsar, go and ask him. You are asking for the names of the people?”
These remarks  of Khajuria  irked some NC members including Lone but surprisingly there was no much reaction from the other sitting NC Members in the House. The Chairman snubbed Khajuria and asked him to take his seat. The issue was settled with little tiff on both the sides.
Altaf Bukhari, who was responding in place of CM said that he did not want to pin point people who have done it because it is long old case.  The issue is about 70 years old. “We do not want to expose any body and it will not be fair to take names. I will only say who so ever has done it,  may Allah rest his soul in peace in heaven,” Bukhari remarked.
Earlier, giving reply to main question, the Minister disclosed that about 96 kanals land at Raja Ji Marg in Delhi was under  the occupation of Army and 1 kanal 11 marla under CPWD. The case has been taken up with the concerned authorities. He also disclosed that 32 kanal 9 marla land at Tapai Road in Amritsar was  also encroached upon. The State has won the case in court but the area is yet to be acquired and take control of it. Eviction notices have also been issued to them.  He said 9 kanal and 12 marla land is also under occupation of M/s Sanghvi Construction Company in Mumbai, Napean  Road.
Bukhari further  disclosed that 1251 kanals and 4 marla land at Mirpur, Sirsa in Haryana  was also under illegal occupation of Bajwa brothers. The issue is sub- judice.
The members however, alleged that Government never remained serious in facing cases in courts and get the State lands vacated. They sought directions from the Chairman  for Government to pursue these cases seriously.
