JAMMU, May 20: Expressing concern over lackadaisical approach of the State Government in resolving the issue of reservation in promotion, the Jammu Kashmir Reserved Categories Empowerment Alliance (JKRCEA) has reminded Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti of her promises made on various occasions to restore the reservation in promotion which was struck down by the Division Bench of J&K High Court.
In a largely attended general body daylong session at Guru Ravi Dass Gurudhwara Hall, Bahu Fort, the JKRCEA urged the Chief Minister for immediate solution over the issue of reservation in promotion which she had also promised to the delegation of SC/ST communities, which met her in January 15, 2018 under the leadership of Bhushan Dogra, Vice Chairman, State Advisory Board for the Development of Scheduled Castes.
Dr Sanjay Bhasin, president of JKRCEA, said that the Chief Minister herself had assured restoration of reservation in promotion and even issued on spot instructions to the concerned authorities for taking necessary step to do so. “But unfortunately, so far, no action has been seen from the Government towards restoration of reservation which adversely affects the employees of SC, ST, RBA, ALC and other reserved categories, he added
Dr Zabeer Ahmed, general secretary of JKRCEA suggested that political solution is the only way out to settle the issue of restoration of reservation in promotion which is a sensitive socio-political affair confronting more than 60 percent of the population of J&K State.
