JAMMU, May 5: Jammu Kashmir Reserved Categories Empowerment Alliance (JKRCEA) today condemned the State Government’s luke warm response in defending their position on the issue of reservation in promotion in scores of writ petitions’ in the State high court.
Addressing a press conference, the leaders of JKRCEA said that after the Division Bench of High Court on struck down provisions of reservation in promotions on 9-10-2015, the State Government preferred not to file SLP in Apex Court and the private respondents belonging to reserved categories got “Status Quo” and “Stay” order from Apex court against the DB Judgment of J&K High court in SLP’s titled Mohammed Haneef Lone Vs State and Naseeb Sing Vs State and Ors.
“The Interim Orders of the Apex court were not only misinterpreted deliberately in favour of upper caste employees but floating these orders of Apex court to winds, the bureaucrats in power corridors backed by both BJP-PDP Ministers and MLAs  has been deliberately misinterpreted by the strong anti-reservation lobby of bureaucrats sitting in power corridors”, they said.
They urged Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to intervene into this very sensitive and serious matter and bring suitable ordinance/resolution/bill/amendment in the current session of the assembly to negate the effects of Division Bench Order of the High court.
The leaders also stressed upon the Government to adopt Constitutional 77th, 81st and 85th Amendments. Chief Minister was also requested to immediately call meeting of Enforcement Board on Monitoring and Implementation of Reservation in J&K, of which she is Chairman.
The speakers stressed upon the Government to immediately come up with political solution to this very sensitive socio-political issues pertaining to more than 60% of the population of J&K. They warned that people may take drastic steps if callous attitude of Government continues in the matter.
The main speakers were Bodh Raj Bhagat from All India Bhagat Mahasabha, Sham Lal Bassan (Dalit Chetan Manch) and Abdul Majid Malik as well as Prof Kali Dass (both from AIBCU).
