JAMMU, Jan 10: The Jammu and Kashmir Reserved Categories Empowerment Alliance (JKRCEA) has condemns the recent attacks by mob at Nankana Sahib Gurdwara in Pakistan, murder of Sikh youth in Pakistan and targeting of students and teachers at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi.
Addressing press conference here today senior member of the Alliance, Sham Lal Bassan said that in civilised society there is no room for such acts. He alleged that some disgruntled elements attacked institution of learning and religiously fanatic elements targetted religious place in Pakistan which is most unfortunate. He said the Government is duty bound to curb such incidents.
Bassan said that incidents of attack on religious places only creates hatred in the society and also provoke others. He said what ever was happened in Pakistan was very unfortunate and not only Sikhs but the people of the relgions have also hurt with attack on Nankana Sahib. He appealed to the Pak PM to take strict action against elements involved in attack and killing of Sikh youth in Pakistan.
Prof G L Thappa pointed out that social conflicts have increased in the educational institutions in India. Referring to JNU, he said such such happenings in the Universities would tarnish the image of our country. He demanded stern action against culprits, suspension of VC and hold an impartial inquiry into the brutal attack on students and teachers.
Another member, Prof Kali Dass said that the Government must take all the necessary measures to stop incidents like JNU in the country. Avtar Singh Khalsa, B R Bhagat, M L Banalia and C L Banal also spoke on the occasion.
