JAMMU, Oct 21: The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples’ Forum (JKPF) during an interactive session with various organizations of the displaced persons from PoJK, West Pakistan and Chhamb discussed their issues in detail.
Ramesh Sabherwal, president of JKPF put forth the agenda of the meeting, while referring to several issues of the displaced bodies, which are struggling for the last many decades, while vice president, Raghu Mehta (adv) and member Mata Vaishnodevi Shrine Board welcomed the participants.
Representatives/ heads of various DPs’ organisations like- SOS International, PoJK Visthapit Sewa Samiti, Chhamb Displaced Persons Association, PoJK Liberation Front, BJP Refugee Cell, Kotli Action Committee, J&K Sharnarthi Action Committee, All J&K PoJKs DPs’ Intellectual Forum, PoJK DPs’ Front, Mirpur Mahajan Sabha, Geeta Mandir Samriti Bhawan Sanstha and West Pakistan Refugees Forum took stock of various long pending demands of the displaced persons.
They pointed out that even after abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A most of the demands of the Displaced Persons have remained unresolved. Rajiv Chuni from SOS International and Capt Yudhvir Singh Chib from PoJK DPs’ Front, Jairam Sharma, C P Gupta, Arun Mahajan and SS Khalsa spoke in detail on the major issues of the DPs and alleged that despite their struggle for the last many decades, the issues have remained un resolved.
These strongly demanded that out of 24 Assembly seats freezed/ reserved, 8 be kept reserved for PoJK DPs as per JPC recommendations, instead of Ex-officio PRO at Jammu, a Commissioner to the rank of Divisional Commissioner or Dy Commissioner be posted to deal with the issues of all the DPs, Rs 30 lakhs be provided as final package to the DPs as per recommendations of JPC, all the rights be granted to West Pak refugees, all the POJK DPs and Chhamb refugees settled outside the state be issued domicile certificates even in the absence of ration card and State Subject, they should also be given voting right.
It was further demanded that Sharda Peeth Shrine in PoJK be opened for Hindu pilgrims, residential plots of 10 marla be given to all the DPs and DPs residing in Custodian houses/ properties be given proprietary rights. They also demanded that a `Smark’ with light and sound show should be constructed to show sacrifices and atrocities faced by the DPs of Mirpur, Kotli, Palandri, Muzaffrabad, Bhimber, Bhag, Poonch and Gilgit -Baltistan.
