JKPECC discusses issues of employees

SRINAGAR, Aug 12: The Jammu and Kashmir Power Employees Coordination Committee (JKPECC) in a meeting held today strongly opposed privatization move and also discussed other pending issues of the employees and workers.
In a meeting of the JKPECC held under the chairmanship of Nasir Ahmed Bhat, president JK Electrical Employees Union, the members discussed in detail the problems faced by the Power workers across J&K. The members viewed seriously that the Government is contemplating the involvement of private companies as project implementing agencies for various Central sponsored schemes like RDSS. Earlier, all the schemes were being implemented through Project wing of the PDD. The proposed move was strongly opposed and resented by the Coordination Committee members.
They also expressed concern over proposal to place all the promotion matters of non-Gazetted cadre in the PDD in the meeting of Board of Directors while earlier the proposal was used to be sent to the Administrative department.
It was resolved in the meeting that any move to privatise the Corporations in all its forms will be opposed besides fresh move of the MD to place all promotion issues before the BOD. They also expressed concern over the undue delay in the issuance of regularization orders of PDL/TDLs workers in various Corporations, delay is disposal of welfare fund compensation for pending cases of the employees and non-clearance of old liabilities in this regard, non-framing of new rules for the welfare fund. They demanded conversion of salary from grant-in-aid back to Treasury system.
The meeting resolved to launch a collective agitation against the authorities for failure to resolve the pending issues of the employees and workers of the JKPDD.
Prominent among those who attended the meeting included- Ch Nazir Ahmed, Zulkarnain Bhat, Ajaz Makhdoomi, Mohd Sultan Mir, Mohd Amin, Nazir Ahmed and Mohd Yousuf Gushu.
