JAMMU, June 18: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) held protest and demanded thorough probe in temple incidents.
Vikram Malhotra, General Secretary, JKPCC led the protest demonstration here at Purani Mandi today.
On the occasion, the protesters raised slogans against the BJP-PDP coalition Government for not paying heed to the Jammu based issues, which has resulted in chaos and confusion among the masses.
Addressing media persons, Vikram Malhotra expressed anguish over growing anti-social and anti-national activities in the State, especially in the Jammu region.
He expressed his apprehension behind sudden spurt in sacrilegious acts, where two temples of Lord Shiva were desecrated by some miscreants with an intention to create wedge between different communities, who are living in a very cordial atmosphere in the State.
While castigating the civil and police administration for unwanted delay in taking action in the first incident occurred at historic Aap Shambu Temple in Roop Nagar, Vikram Malhotra demanded thorough investigation into the incident and strong punishment for the accused, who have hurt the sentiments of a minority community without any reason.
Congress leader added that the district administration took prompt action in another similar incident occurred at a Lord Shiva temple in Nanak Nagar and saved the situation from getting derailed. He demanded security deployment at all the temples in Jammu, so that no such incident could take place in future.
Malhotra also criticized the PDP-BJP alliance Government for its failure to contain the every rising prices of essential commodities, especially pulses, fruits and vegetables, due to which it has become very difficult for the common man to make both ends meet.
He demanded immediate review of prices of all the essential commodities and other eatables so as to bring some relief to the general public.
Among others present were Ajay Sawhney, Raju Malhotra, Pawan Dev Singh, Babu Shah, Kunal, Divyansh, Vicky Choudhary, Jang Bahadur, Raj Mehra, Rajinder Mehra, RK Sodi, Suresh Dogra, etc.
