JAMMU, Feb 3: Continuing their drive against the use of Polythene carry bags below 120 microns, the officials of J&K Pollution Control Committee (JKPCC) today conducted surprise inspection of plastic manufacturing industrial unit located at Gangyal.
During the checking, the polythene carry bags below 120 microns were found from the units included M/s Classic Packers, M/s Bhagwati Plastic and Mahavir Plastic.
The plastic manufacturing unit 900 kgs banned plastic material was seized under Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016, similarly and an amount of Rs 40,000 penalty was levied upon the unit holders.
It is pertinent to mention here that under Plastic Waste Management Rules amended in 2021, manufacturing, storage, transportation and use of polythene carry bags, below 120 microns are prohibited.
The joint inspection was conducted by a team of officers included Randeep Singh, Sanjay Rathore and Anil Kumar, under the supervision of Ghansham Singh, Member Secretary, J&K PCC, Jammu.
