Anantnag, July 6: The J&K Projects Construction Corporation Ltd (JKPCC) was today asked to speed up the work on a building at main campus Govt Medical College (GMC), Anantnag or wind up its ‘operations’ at the site of construction.
The directions were passed to the Corporation by the Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education Atal Dullo who was on his visit to the GMC Anantnag today.
Officials privy to the development told Excelsior that Financial Commissioner, H&ME categorically asked the representatives of the Corporation—who were present in the meeting—that they should make sure that they either speed up the process of construction, or it be handed over to some other agency.
”They were asked to complete the construction well within the deadline; the representatives of JKPCC assured him that they will get it done, however, the Commissioner was catagoric in his directions,” the official said.
The official said that the JKPCC is lacking the required manpower to complete the work on the building; they have done nothing in this year. “They do not seem up to the task and they do not have a sense of urgency,” he said.
The work on the building was started way back in the year 2016; however, the pace at which the construction is going on, the official said that they are not even going to complete it in next several years. “They actually lack the manpower and they have done nothing to keep pace with the needs,” he said.
“2016 some work was done after which nothing concrete was done there, they were initially facing some issues with regard to the construction material, the issue that was sorted out, but now, there is not a single reason of not keeping the work going on,” the official said.
