JAMMU, June 5: One-day first ever AO-IFAS workshop on ‘Foot and Ankle’ was held here in Hotel KC Residency.
The workshop was organized by J&K Orthopaedics Associ-ation (JKOA). The Indian Foot & Ankle Society is holding regular conferences and workshops all over India for the benefit of Orthopaedic Surgeons but it is for the first time that such workshop was organized at Jammu in collaboration with AO Trauma, an international community of Orthopaedics & Musculoskeletal researchers.
Around 100 Orthopaedic Surgeons from Northern region of India participated in the workshop. It was an academic feat. There were around 20 scientific talks and hands on workshop on bone models.
The participants had a lot of interaction with the faculty on scientific talks. The talks only focused on Foot & Ankle diseases and how to manage them. The Orthopaedic fraternity gained a lot from the discussions.
The outstations faculty was comprised of Dr MS Dhillon, (Prof and Head, PGI Chandigarh, who is also the current chairman of AO India), Dr Sharad Parbhakar and Dr Sidarath Sharma from PGI Chandigarh, Dr Rajeev Vohra from Amritsar and Dr Shabir Ahmad from Srinagar.
The local faculty was comprised of all eminent Orthopaedic surgeons from ASCOMS & Hospital, Jammu, GMC Jammu and many senior doctors from Jammu city.
Dr Rajesh Gupta, Professor, Department of Orthopaedics, ASCOMS & Hospital, Sidhra, Jammu, who is also the secretary of J&K Orthopaedic Association, was the organizing secretary of the workshop.
