UDHAMPUR, Sept 11: Protesting against the alleged collapse of district administration in relief and rescue of the flood affected population of Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party took out a rally through main bazars of the town.
Led by JKNPP MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia, the protesting people raised slogans against the district administration and demanded immediate removal of the Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur.
The protesters alleged that District administration has failed to distribute relief among the flood sufferers and except for doing Aerial surveys nothing was being done on ground to provide succour to the suffering masses. They said that no ration, tents, blankets, drinking water, electricity supply has been provided to any area in the district and Deputy Commissioner was busy in doing indoor meetings only.
They blamed the officer for death of more than 40 and missing of about 100 men in Panchari area and demanded registration of an FIR against DC Udhampur.
Addressing the protestors, Balwant Singh Mankotia said that district administration has failed to respond to the unprecedented flood situation as the Deputy Commissioner failed to perform her duty as a responsible officer. He said that central Government should immediately deploy efficient officers to handle the situation and provide relief and rehabilitation to the affected public.
He informed that a memorandum in this regard has already been sent to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking effective measures to tackle the situation.
