JAMMU, June 13: Various political and social organizations today held protest demonstrations against the State Government for pushing the separatists in Kashmir and attack on yatra buses carrying pilgrims to holy shrine of Mata Kheer Bhawani at Tulmulla.
Launching a scathing attack on the BJP partnered State Government for exclusively pushing the separatists agenda in Kashmir, Panthers Party activists, led by Harshdev Singh and Yashpal Kundal, staged a protest demonstration against the attack on buses carrying Kashmiri Pundits to Khir Bhawani fair.
The protesting Panthers also raised slogans against the BJP-PDP Government for not allowing holy Abhinavgupt Yatra in Kashmir on the dictates of Kashmiri separatists.
While addressing, Harshdev Singh said that attack on Kheer Bhawani pilgrims depicts the parochial psyche of the separatists who were hell bent to vitiate peace and erase the centuries old heterogeneous diversity in Kashmir. He slammed the State dispensation and BJP in particular for having a soft corner for the secessionist forces, which had further emboldened the anti-national elements to execute their nefarious designs.
Other demonstrations were held by All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC), National Conference (NC) Minority Cell and Sampooran Kashmir Sangathan at Press Club here against the attack on pilgrims.
While expressing serious concern over the stone pelting on Mata Kheer Bhawani pilgrims ASKPC president advocate Ravinder Raina alleged that this has been total failure of State administration. He said such unfortunate incidents are testimony to the fact that present Government dispensation which is day in and day out coming out with tall promises of rehabilitating displaced Pandits in Valley has lost control over the ground situation in the Valley and its claims are totally hollow.
He said incidents of violence targeting pilgrims during this holy month of Ramdan also causes a shadow of doubt over the statements of some circles in civil society of Kashmir who assure a welcome to displaced Pandits back into their homes.
NC Minority Cell which also held a demonstration in front of Press Club condemned the incident in strongest terms. The protest was held under the chairmanship of working president of the Cell M K Yogi who accused the coalition of its total failure in acting against the separatists and subversive elements. He said the claims of Government on return of Pandits to Valley are totally hollow.
Sampooran Kashmiri Sangathan (SKS) which also held a demonstration at Press Club under the leadership of its president Rakesh Kaul said this way the Hurriyat leaders have also been fully exposed who were opposing the Pandits rehabilitation in clusters and were demanding their settlement in their original habitations. Kaul said if Hurriyat hardliner Syed Ali Shah Geelani has guts he should come openly and condemn such incidents instead of maintaining a stoic silence.
Kaul said such incidents have shown that Pandits rehabilitation was not possible without settling them at a single township.
BJP Displaced District president Chand Ji Bhat has strongly condemned the attack and termed it a cowardice act. He said KPs will not be cowed down by such attacks and no power on earth cans top them from their right on land of Kashmir. Bhat warned the separatists and subversive elements not to indulge in such activities as they have already brought a bad name to land of Kashmir.
All Displaced Kashmiri United Front (ADKUF) has also condemned the stone pelting on yatri bus near Harnag Anantnag on Saturday and termed it a cowardice act of separatists and subversive elements.
The ADKUF chairman, D N Kissu and its advisor Prof G L Koul said that when the people who were on holy pilgrimage have not been spared by the separatists how can one trust them that Pandits will be safe after they return to their original habitations in Valley.
The Front leaders also condemned the statement of Dr Sandeep Mawa chairman of so called Kashmir Reconciliation Front who had opposed settlement of Pandits in separate colonies saying the same was against Kashmiriyat. Both Mr Kissu and Prof Kaul said Kashmiriyat is nothing but a false propaganda to hoodwink the people of country.
Samajwadi Party Migrant Cell president, Inder Ji Labroo has also condemned the attack on Yatris and demanded proper security pilgrims.
Bajrang Dal (BD) also held a protest in front of Press Club here today against the attack on yatri bus at Harnag Anantnag on Saturday and demanded fool proof security for pilgrims on pilgrimage to Kashmir Valley.
The protest was led by convener BD Naveen Sudhan and co-convener of the organization Rakesh Sharma among several BD activists also participated in it. They strongly condemned the attack and warned that such attacks will not be tolerated.
