JAMMU, July 12: Jammu and Kashmir Nationalist Movement (JKNM) has laueded the Chief Minsiter Omar Abdullah’s comment that there were elements who forced the Kashmiri Pandits to leave the Valley and same elements are obstructing their return and rehabilitation.
In a statement here today JKNM said this candid and factual statement of Chief Minister indicates what the internally displaced Pandits have been telling the world from the day one of their expulsion from their birth place.
It said the Chief Minister’s assertion removes for all times the canard spread by vested interests that the Pandits were prompted by the then Governor to leave the Kashmir. The JKNM while expressing satisfaction over the statement said that Chief Minister will do whatever is in his powers to ensure honourable and safe return and rehabilitation of the community.
It said the KPs are also not willing to live in clusters or safe zones and have been suggesting the Government, NGOs and broad sections of Kashmiri civil society to consider the opting of creating a twin-city (Nav Srinagar) in the peripheries of Srinagar.
Kashmiri Pandit Sabha (KPS) Jammu in a meeting here today held under the chairmanship of its president K K Khosa has also hailed the statement of Mr Omar Abdullah who rebutted the separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani.
The Sabha appreciated CM for reminding Geelani about the situation in PoK including Gilgit. The Sabha expressed the hope that all poltical parties includign Congress will denounce the statement of Geelani.
Mr Khosa said Geelani has always raised his voice against the return of KPs and he was instrumental in hounding the community. He condemned Geelani’s malicious propaganda to mislead Kashmiris.
