Srinagar, Nov 6: The J&K Handicapped Association (JKHA) today accused the LG’s Administration of ignoring the handicapped persons of J&K by being callous about this welfare and also demanded the implementation of Disabilities Act in the Union Territory.
The Association said that an important meeting of its office bearers was held under the chairmanship of State President Abdul Rashid Bhat. The meeting, the Association said, expressed displeasure over the lack of efforts by the administration towards the welfare of persons with disabilities in J&K.
“In this meeting, President Abdul Rashid Bhat accused the LG administration of not paying attention due to which this section of the society is plunging more into depression,” the Association said.
It said that it is a matter of great sorrows and displeasure that Government of J&K UT headed by LG Administration “is not serious about the welfare of physically Handicapped persons of J&K UT.”
The Association demanded the implementation of Rules of Right to Persons with Disabilities act 2016 in J&K UT without any further delay.
“Without the implementation of RPWD Act 2016 in J&K UT, physically Handicapped persons are suffering a lot because no one listens to their grievances,” it said.
Bhat said that the Association day in day out appeals the LG’s Administration to consider the long-pending demands, “but till date, no one has bothered to come forwards to fulfil our ling pending demand,” he said.
