JKGEJAC members stage protest demonstration

JAMMU, Oct 20: The members of J&K Govt Employees Joint Action Committee (JKGEJAC) Jammu, held a massive protest demonstration in front of the office of Divisional Commissioner, at Rail Head complex here today.
Many senior Trade Union leaders including Sushil Sudan (JK Med Employees Federation), Ganesh Khajuria (JKTF), Subash Verma, K C Dubey, Balvadar Chand (PHE Employees United Front), Gurmeet Singh (Irri), Nazir Bha (Sales Tax) Ashish Sharma ( PWD/R&B), Suresh Sharma (PSU), Umar Jan (SWD) and others joined the protest demonstration and in one voice supported the on going struggle of the employees of different Govt departments including daily wagers / casual/ ad hoc/contingency paid workers and other related cadre. They demanded that all these workers be regularized without any more delay and their pending wages be cleared.
While addressing protestrors, several senior Trade Union leaders alleged that these workers are facing worst kind of exploitation and they have been forced to work on meager wages. Many of them are working even for the last 15-20 years and have given those precious years of their youth to the government departments. They and their families are facing starvation. The Government must regularize ther services of these people.
The speakers appealed to the Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha, Chief secretary J&K UT and the Advisors to the Lt Governor to take personal initiative to resolve all the issues of the aggrieved employees/ workers who are the backbone of the many departments. Even during Corona crisis, they are performing their duty since long despite threat to their lives. Even the PDD and PHE workers are performing duty round the clock.
They demanded that besides regularizing their services, the Govt must clear their pending wages, ensure them wages every month and implement Minimum Wages Act in J&K UT on Central pattern. The Employees Joint Action Committee decided to hold the meeting of all the stake holders to chalk out a comprehensive programme to stress upon the Government to address the issues of these agitating workers of various departments and PSUs.
