JKGBRWA celebrates implementation of pension benefits in bank

JAMMU, Nov 19: J&K Grameen Bank Retirees Welfare Association organised a grand function at Choudhary Resorts Kunjwani to celebrate the implementation of pension benefits in the Bank. The dream of pension in Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) has become true after a very long legal struggle of retirees in different High Courts of India and ultimately by Supreme Court of India on April 25 last year. About 80,000 retirees of 56 Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) across the nation are going to be benefitted after this much awaited verdict of Supreme Court of India.
The occasion was graced by the presence of R.K Chhibber, Chairman & MD of J&K Bank who was the chief guest and Janak Raj Angural, Chairman, J&K Grameen Bank who was the Guest of Honour of the event. Other dignitaries including all the retired chairman from J&K Grameen Bank were also present on the occasion.
The dignitaries not only congratulated the retirees of J&K Grameen Bank on their achievement but also praised their protracted struggle in different courts of the country including Supreme Court of India for the favourable verdict of pension.
Karan Singh, general secretary, JKGBRWA apprised the dignitaries about the history of struggle undertaken to achieve this hard-earned goal of pension. Though certain quarters were hell bent to deny this benefits to the staff of RRBs under different pretexts including financial burden.
Varinder Sharma, vice president, JKGBRWA conducted the proceedings of the functions.
The retirees along with their family members marked their presence in this historic event.
