JAMMU, May 7: J&K Grameen Bank (JKGB) has enrolled 11000 persons under PMJDY, PMJJBY and PMSBY by conducting 456 camps in just 24 days of the Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan.
This is a big achievement of Micro Finance and Financial Inclusion Department who in collaboration with Regional Office Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch, Kathua and Samba achieved the set target of 8651 enrolments by conducting camps in 19 villages covered in districts Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Rajouri and Poonch.
Vipan Gupta, Senior Manager, Micro Finance & Financial Inclusion, JKGB, informed that the bank opened the accounts of mostly unbanked population in the most backward areas of the given 19 villages under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bhima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bhima Yojana (PMSBY).
In the ongoing campaign, people were made aware about the Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan, a Government of India programme for covering the poor population in the villages of districts Jammu, Rajouri, Kathua and Samba.
Expressing satisfaction over the achievement of the targets, Vipan highlighted that the campaign will continue till May 8, 2018, and is still aimed to promote social harmony, reach out to poor rural households, spreading awareness about Government welfare schemes, enhance livelihood opportunities and re-emphasize national priorities including cleanliness and strengthening of Panchayati Raj institutions.
He emphasized that in order to enable 100% renewal of existing enrolments under PMSBY & PMJJBY, the SMSs are sent to the customers on regular basis for maintaining a minimum balance of Rs 330 and Rs 12 only. At present, the claim settlement rate in the bank is 100%.
“The masses was also aware about technological innovations in banking industry including NEFT/RTGS, Online Banking, IMPS, SMS Banking, Rupay Card, Aadhaar Enabled Payment System & Direct Benefit Transfer etc., to promote the digital banking and move towards the less-cash economy”, he added.
