JKGB employees continue strike, protest on 3rd consecutive day

JAMMU, Mar 28: On the call of United Forum of Regional Rural Bank Union/All India Regional Rural Bank Employees’ Association, J&K Grameen Bank Officers’ Association (JKGBOA) and J&K Grameen Bank Employees’ Association (JKGBEA) today observed strike and held a sit-in protest on third consecutive day in front of bank’s head office at Narwal in Jammu.
A large number of serving and retired officers/officials of the bank participated in the protest at Narwal, where they raised slogans in support of their demands, which include stoppage of privatization move in Regional Rural Banks (RRBs), pension and provident fund parity at par with NCBs, extension of computer increment in line with sponsor banks and implementation of compassionate appointment scheme with retrospective effect.
Other demands of the employees include declaration of IBA as apex level negotiating forum for RRBs in line with sponsor bank, ensuring minimum wage and other allied benefits pending regularization of daily waged/casual workers in line with sponsor banks, and ensuring parity of service regularization at par with sponsor bank, covering pay, allowances and superannuation benefits.
The protest was addressed by Amit Laira (president, JKGBOA), Rashpal Choudhary (general secretary, JKGBOA), Avinash Singh (president, JKGBEA), Vikas K Choudhary (general secretary, JKGBEA) and Karan Singh (general secretary, JKGB Retired Employees’ Association).
