JAMMU, July 15: J&K Freedom Fighters Association (JKFFA) on Saturday held a function to remember Brigadier Mohd Usman, a hero of 1947 Indo- Pak war.
Brigadier Usman was the only high ranking officer of the Indian Army, who sacrificed his life while saving Nowshera, Jhangar and Rajouri on July 3, 1948.
Brigadier Usman was offered the highest post in the Pakistan Army by the Pakistan Government, but he refused the offer and fought bravely against the Pakistan Army.
The J&K Freedom Fighters Association held the function at Channi Rama, which was organized by the President Ved Gandotra and Rajiv Mahajan, State President Shri Ram Sena was the Chief Guest.
The speakers highlighted the deeds of Brigadier Usman and paid him rich tributes.
They said that Brigadier Usman was born on July 15, 1912 and attained Martyrdom just 12 days before his 36th Birthday.
Speakers also remembered all those known and un-known martyrs and freedom fighters who sacrificed everything for freedom.
They asked youth to fight corruption, social evils, and poverty to make an India of their dreams.
They also distributed eatables among the inmates of mentality Retarded Home.
The prominent people who spoke on the occasion were Gajan Singh Akali, Pritam, Sushil and others.
