JAMMU, July 13: J&K Freedom Fighters Association (JKFFA) toady held a function to pay tributes to comrade Dhanwantri, the freedom fighter and a daring soldier of Bharat Mata from Jammu City who fought the British Forces, for the freedom of the mother-land.
Comrade Dhanwantri attainted his Martyrdom on July 13, 1953.
The function was organized by the president of the Association, Ved Gandotra at Bal Niketan, Ved Mandir Amphalla, here.
On the occasion, floral tributes were paid to the great Martyr with showering petals on his photograph.
Comrade Dhanwantri was born on March 7, 1906 and came in contact with Bhagat Singh group at Lahore when he went there for his higher education (to become a doctor).
He joined Bhagat and all other revolutionaries to fight the British Empire for the freedom of India.
Speaking on the occasion, the speakers highlighted his deeds and said that during his struggle he was sent to Andaman Nicobar Jail, for twenty years.
The members said that he was like a torch light for the youth of today’s India, and youth should follow the path shown by him.
The members remembered all the known and unknown freedom fighters –Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Raj Guru, Netaji Subash Chander Bose, Chander Shekhar, Maharani Laxmi Bai, Ashfaqulla Khan, Udham Singh, Mangal Pandey, Nana Sahib and Bahadur Shah Zaffar and said that their deeds were the lesson for the coming generations, that only by sacrificing yourself one can shine like a hero on the horizon of mother land.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included State president, Shri Ram Sena, Rajiv Mahajan, Ashok Dogra, Parbhat Kapahi, Tejinder Singh, Gajan Singh, Rajinder Singh, Pritam Sharma, Vinay Mahajan and Tej Ram Dogra.
