JAMMU, Aug 20: The Jammu & Kashmir Electrical Engineering Graduates Association (JKEEGA) in an urgent meeting today at Gladni Complex, Narwal, condemned the attachment of one of the senior most officers of the rank of Executive Engineer, Neeraj Sharma by Managing Director, Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL) without any concrete reasons.
The General Council in strong terms condemned the attachment and expressed its utter dismay over the decision taken by the Administration. The members voiced concern that the said engineer is being made scape goat for the existing shortcomings in the system on part of infrastructure and re-organization of the department as was approved by the SAC before unbundling of the department.
“Since an exponential increase in distribution network has taken place with no addition in sanction strength of employees, it leads to a condition where most of the receiving stations and even some grids are being manned by 2 to 3 SBA’s against minimum of 8 SBA’s as required under standard guidelines. A single lineman and a JE is taking care of approximately 40 to 50 distribution transformers along with HT and LT network running into hundreds of kilometers, round the clock,” it said.
It’s impressed upon the Administration that the efficiency of the department and reliability of power supply is a two way affair where both the components need to work in a coordinated manner while taking into consideration on time the various prerequisites, needs and technicalities. The decision taken is shocking to all the engineers who even in covid-19 pandemic crisis are working day and night that too, without even getting the perks and allowances of the posts they are manning. JKEEGA sought intervention of the Lt Governor and the Chief Secretary into the matter.
