JKEEGA appeals Governor for justice to degree holder Enggs

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Aug 4: The  Jammu & Kashmir Electrical Engineering Graduates Association (JKEEGA) has urged upon the State Governor N N Vohra to do justice with the Degree holder engineers.
In a meeting of the  JKEEGA held at Gladini today under the chairmanship of  its president  Harvrinder Singh today the members discussed  the burning issues pertaining to the fraternity. During the meeting the speakers said that the top most posts of Development Commissioner (Power) & Chief Engineers in the Power Development Department (PDD) are lying vacant whereas, the file of promotion/placement of these posts was lying in the GAD for the last one month but still the file has not been cleared. Similarly, about 100 posts of Assistant Executive Engineer rank and more than 137  posts of Assistant Engineer are lying vacant for more than last six months.    Both the files are moving from table to desk since long but nothing concrete has been done which is not only hampering the carrier prospective of the Degree holders in the larger context.
The Association has taken the issues several times at the top administrative levels but all the calls have fallen on the deaf ears. It is pertinent to mention that file of the promotion of the Asstt Executive Engineers and Asstt. Engineers was forwarded to the GAD four months back for the opinion but nothing decisive has been done till date.
Apart from the promotion/placement of degree holders, association also apprised the Governor the long pending demand of the Degree holders for their confirmation in their respective cadres/grades. For the last 17 long  years regularization of the Engineers are pending. The Administration is only placing the engineers to the next rank on the adhoc & stopgap arrangements at the time of promotions which has caused frustration and distress among the officers of the department.
They said Development Commissioner (Power), Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers and Executive Engineers are superannuated in the grades of Assistant Engineers which speaks volumes about the total indifference and humiliating treatment to the services rendered by them spreading over decades. The association pressed upon the need of a time bound solution of the regularization of Engineers against these posts.
