JAMMU, July 21: Jammu and Kashmir Electric Department Linemen and Workers Union (JKEDLWU) held an emergency meeting under the presidentship of Tara Chand Lakhotra at Gandhi Nagar here today.
The members held a threadbare discussing over the loss of lives linemen while performing their duty to negligence of the higher authorities.
They expressed shock over the serious injuries received by lineman Bansi Lal due to fall of transformer on him at Smailpur and is in critical condition in a hospital at Amritsar in Punjab. He is posted at Sub Division Bari Brahmana.
The meeting took a serious note and requested the Executive Engineer and Assistant Executive Engineer M & RE Division Vijaypur and Sub Division Bari Brahmana to ascertain the cause of the accident and appealed the higher authorities to make inquiry in the matter.
The Union leaders also appealed the concerned Executive Engineer M&RE Division Vijaypura to refer all the accidents cases that took place for past three months in his Division to the Government for grant of compensation as per rules as the families of the linemen who have lost their lives while performing duties are suffering badly.
The meeting also sought intervention of Chief Engineer M&RE Circle Jammu.
Those who attended the meeting included Darshan Lal, Girdhari Lal Bhagat, Bua Ditta, Subash Chander, Mangat Ram, Sudershan Kumar, Pawan Singh, Suraj Singh and Jai Dev Singh.
