JAMMU, Mar 19: Pointing towards the discriminative approach of successive regimes led by NC, Congress and PDP towards Jammu region, JKDF candidate for Doda-Udhampur-Kathua Parliamentary Constituency and State president of the party, Anil Gupta today said, as a political party JKDF is determined to take up the cause of people of Jammu to regain its pride and tradition.
Mr Gupta said Jammu is an integral part of State and has a greater population than other regions but it has constantly faced discrimination.
While holding series of meetings and road shows in Basohli town, village Palasi, village Nagrota Martha and Mahanpur of Basohli Assembly segment, Anil Gupta said that the situation of Jammu which is the birth place of Dogras is worst.
Referring to the poor state of developmental activities in the Doda-Udhampur-Kathua Parliamentary Constituency from the last ten years, Gupta said, “this Constituency has remained virtually unrepresented due to the apathetic approach of Congress Party and its elected representative. Congress Party for the sake of vote bank has always adopted appeasement policy just to serve the interests of few thus allowing this region to fall prey to discrimination.
He said, the power generated by Ranjeet Sagar Dam situated in Basohli, is being outsourced to neighbouring State of Punjab.
Ranjeet Sagar Dam could have been better utilized to provide employment to local youth of Basohli but unfortunately people of this State particularly Basohli didn’t get any benefit from this project.
When Prof Chaman Lal Gupta was Union Minister a project for construction of bridge connecting Basohli to Himachal Pradesh was taken up, but after 2004 the pace of work on the same was carried out at snails speed to thwart the development of area.
Anil Gupta was accompanied by Senior JKDF activists Chander Mohan Sharma, Munish Khajuria, Naveen Sharma and others.
