JAMMU, May 28: The Jammu and Kashmir Coordination Committee of Trade Unions (JKCCTU) observed demands day today and held protest rally both in Jammu and Kashmir regions to highlight the burning demands of employees and workers.
The major demands of the employees include- formulation of police for wage and regularization for all temporary workers, implementation of old pension scheme, filling up of vacant posts, stopping of outsourcing, contractorization and privatization in Govt Departments and ensuring of democratic and trade union rights.

At Jammu Press Club a protest dharna was held today which was addressed by Gurmeet Singh general secretary JKCCTU. He criticized the Central and UT administration’s anti-working class policies and said that the present administration while pursuing the privatization policy in all PSUs and Govt Departments has created an atmosphere of fear and is unnecessary harassing the employees and ignoring all genuine demands which have created a large scale resentment among the employees.
He demanded the formulation of regularization policy for all temporary workers and enhancement of minimum wage not less than Rs 21000 pm and ensuring democratic and trade union rights and stopping of harassment.
Other prominent leaders who spoke in the gathering were Dr Shashipal Singh Provincial president, Surinder Kumar, Arvinderpal Singh, Satpal Singh, Mohd Shabir, Surinder Sharma, Ashok Kumar, Girdhari Lal Chanda, Raj Kumar, Ravinder Singh Raina, Rajesh Jamwal, Jahangir Alam Khan, Amarjit Singh, Bal krishan and Rukshana Shamas.
Similar protest dharna was held at Anantnag in Kashmir today which was addressed by Haji Gulam Mohd, senior vice president, Hura Bano vice present, Altaf Ahmad Gogre, Showkat Ahmad, secretary JKCCTU, Abdul Rashid Dada and others.
