SRINAGAR, Oct 14: J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today announced a mega financial package for writers and artistes of the State who are ailing or are in old age and are also facing financial constraints.
Giving details, Secretary Academy, Dr Aziz Hajini said that the Academy has got approval of the President (Chief Minister) to release of an amount of Rs 21.00 lakh in respect of writers and artists of the State who, on account of old age and other factors, are facing financial difficulties.
As per details financial backing will be provided by the Academy in respect of 125 recommended writers and artists of the State at the uniform rate of Rs 700 per month for the year’s 2013 and 2014, respectively.
Elucidating further, Dr Hajini said that under its indigent circumstances scheme, the Academy has been providing financial assistance to writers and artistes of the State or their dependents who require such help at uniform rates of Rs 700 per month; an amount which is now being revised.
“In future we will be giving Rs 2500 to the eligible writer/artist or their dependents per month instead of Rs 700,” Hajini disclosed, adding the Central Committee of the Academy has given its nod to the enhancement.
