JAMMU, Oct 21: As a part of series of programme being organized in connection with Diwali celebrations, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today organized Sugam Sangeet at KL Saigal Hall here.
Padamshree Prof ND Sharma, Ex-Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages presided over the function while as Soujanya Sharma, Director Tourism, Jammu was the chief guest. Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary also shared the presidium. Mushtaq Kak, renowned Theatre Director was the special guest on the occasion.
While delivering the presidential address Padamshree Prof Sharma said that the endeavor by J&K Cultural Academy for celebrating Diwali by organizing Sugam Sangeet, a musical evening during which the artists from Jammu region enthralled the audience with their stimulating performance will go a long way in future.
Speaking on the occasion, Soujanya Sharma said that such efforts by the J&K Cultural Academy convey a message of brotherhood and unity to the society.
The artists who participated included Surinder Singh Manhas, Manju Bala, Chaman Mattoo, Subhash Langhey, Jayanti Sinha, Sonali Dogra, Mukteshi Sharma, Naurin Butt, Ravi Kalotra and Suresh Chouhan accompanied by musicians Sunil Sharma, Rakesh Anand, Joginder Kumar and Satish Lalotra.
Earlier, Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, delivered the welcome address and said that number of activities have already been scheduled by the J&K Cultural Academy in near future.
Vijay Atri conducted the proceedings of the programme and Dr Sudhir Mahajan, presented vote of thanks.
Among others present were Khalid Hussain, Prof Rita Jatindera, Sudarshan Ratanpuri, Bhupinder Singh Bhargav, Prof Raj Kumar, Puran Chand Badgotra, Kamal Deep Singh, Randhir Kour, Mamta Raina and a galaxy of artists, singers, intellectuals and citizens of Jammu.
