JAMMU, Aug 22: J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today organized a multi-lingual Kahani Gosthi at K L Saigal Hall, Jammu.
Those who read out their short-stories, included S S Anand Lehar (Urdu), Dr Lalit Magotra (Dogri), Nirmal Vikram (Dogri), Khalid Hussain (Punjabi) and Kiran Bakshi (Hindi).
N D Jamwal, a well known multi-faceted personality, presided over the function while Dr Aziz Hajni, Secretary of the Academy and Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, were in the presidium.
N D Jamwal applauded the efforts of the Academy being initiated at the doorstep of the artists, writers and others especially in the Educational institutions. This is not only an encouraging initiative but it has also registered a number of new faces as poets, he added.
Delivering his maiden address in Jammu after assumption of position of the Secretary of the Academy, Dr Aziz Hajni said that J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages intends to do a lot for the promotion of art, culture and languages of the State which cannot be possible without the active participation of the artists/writers and those associated with the field of art, culture and languages. He sought assistance from the concerned so as to take the art, culture and languages to its satisfactory end.
Among those, who were present on the occasion, included Sham Talib, Dr Nirmal Vinod , Chattar Pal, Rakesh Tript, Baljit Raina, Capt Lalit Ji, Deepak Arsi, Dr Harish Kaila, Kamaljeet Singh, Suraj Singh Suraj, Yash Pal Yash, H S Upashak, Susheel Begana, Hardeep Singh Deep, S D S Vishavnagrik, Bikram Jeet Singh and Kuldeep Singh.
Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Jammu.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr Rattan Basotra, Asstt Editor Dogri whereas Ashok Gupta, Editor Dogri, was overall Incharge of the programme.
