JKAACL organizes multi- lingual ‘Kahani-Goshthi’

JAMMU, Nov 18: The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages organized Multi-lingual Mahila Kahani Goshthi at KL Saigal Hall of the Academy here today.
Prof Nirja Mattoo, former senior fellow, Ministry of Culture, HRD, Govt of India, prominent social worker and intellectual was the chief guest while Prof Rita Jitender, eminent writer, actor, social activist and former Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages presided over.
Dr Aziz Hajini, Secretary and Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary were also present in the presidium.
While delivering her presidential address, Prof Rita thanked Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages for arranging Multi-lingual Mahila Kahani Goshthi. She also hailed the contribution of women short-story writers who presented their short-stories and said that there is a lot of work to be done for the promotion and protection of women rights.
Prof Nirija said that she was privileged to hear the short stories presented in the said function in Dogri, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu which were highly appreciable and succeeded in reflecting the problems being faced by the women folk of the present era. She expressed her concern that even in the present time of global change and achievements in every field of life the situation of women not changed yet.
Dr Hajini said that woman is the main source of inspiration in the world and should be respected and supported in all spheres of life for the betterment of human life. He further said that this programme was planned with the spirit to provide women folk a platform where the women related issues could be discussed. He further said that such more programmes will also be arranged in future with the maximum participation of upcoming female talent from the colleges.
Those who presented their short-stories include Prof Rita Jatinder-Haaye Ni Meri Shaada (Urdu), Smt Kanta Jamwal- Khumari (Dogri), Prof Kiran Bakshi- Baad Ke Dardnaak Manzar….(Hindi) and Surinder Neer-Ram Snehi (Punjabi).
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Reeta Khadyal and vote of thanks was presented by Dr Arvinder Amn.
