JAMMU, Apr 11: Remembering K L Saigal, legendary singer of his time, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and Nirvana Academy today organized a Musical Concerts based on songs of Kundan Lal Saigal in the K L Saigal Hall, here.
Khalid Hussain, a renowned Punjabi and Urdu short story writer was the chief guest , while Haroon Rashid, Secretary and Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Khalid Hussain thanked the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Jammu for organizing musical evening in memory of the legend Singer KL Saigal. He said that Saigal not only sung in Hindi films but he also sung in Bengali and Punjabi including classical concerts. He further said that personalities like Malika Pukhraj should also be remembered. He complimented Anil Tickoo and Rakesh Anand for their scintillating performances.
Earlier, Mr Haroon threw light on the life and achievements of Kundan lal Saigal.
Songs were presented by the singers including Jeevan Sharma, Rakesh Anand, Anil Tickoo and Reeta Khadyal. The musicians who accompanied were Sahil Jasotra on Tabla, Rakesh Anand on Fluit, Sunil Sharma, S Amarjeet Singh and Bishan Dass.
Vote of thanks was presented by Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary of Academy whereas the proceedings of the programme were conducted by Raj Kumar Behroupia.
Meanwhile, Nirvana Academy today organized a programme to pay tribute to legendary Singer, Actor and son of soil Late Sh. Kundan Lal Saigal on his 111th birth anniversary at Aarohi Kala Sangeet Vidhalaya, Jammu.
Floral tributes and a musical programme were held on the occasion. Children and budding artist took part in the programme and sang popular songs and bhajans of Kundan Lal Saigal.
Kuldeep Kumar, Music Director read a paper on the life and achievements of Late. Kundan Lal Saigal. Kuldeep threw light on the contribution of Saigal in the field of music, art and cinema.
Artists performed on the occasion were Aditya Dhar, Haripriya Gupta, Kunwar Langer, Vihaan Sopori, Gandharv, Anandi Gupta, Arnav Gupta, Amit Bhawara, Aryaman Sharma and Harsh Chopra. Sourav accompanied on table and Ritvik on Guitar. Meenakshi Sharma General Secretary Nirvana Academy presented vote of thanks.
