JAMMU, Dec 8: The J&K Sub-Junior Wushu team returned from the 24th Sub-Junior National Wushu Championship in Tarn Taran, Punjab, with an impressive total of 16 medals. The championship, held from December 1 to 6, 2024, saw J&K’s athletes shine in both the Sanda and Taolu events.
The team secured three gold medals, with standout performances from Geenakshi, who won gold in Sanda and Arzath Wangoo and Mohd Arman Malik, who clinched gold in the Taolu events. The team also bagged two silver medals, one in the Group Event and another through Arzath Wangoo. The remaining 11 bronze medals were awarded to Mohd Arman Malik, Dhruvika Gupta, Bhavkul Handoo, Praznath Wangoo, Hiranya Mahajan, Rudra Pratap, Tabish Maqbool, Farhaan Rashid, Sana Sheeraz, Syed Mursaleen Shah and Ahsaan ul Haq.
In the Group Event, the J&K team, consisting of Hiranya Mahajan, Praznath Wangoo, Arzath Wangoo, Bhavkul Handoo, Rudra Pratap, Mohd Arman Malik, Dhruvika Gupta, Ahaan, Sourish and Manan, secured a silver medal.
Kuldeep Handoo, Dronacharya Awardee, congratulated the team for their stellar achievements and extended his gratitude to the J&K Sports Council. The President of the J&K Wushu Association, Vijay Saraf and General Secretary, Bhavneet, also congratulated the team for their outstanding performances.
