J&K police pays floral tribute to constable killed in Kashmir encounter

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir police on Sunday paid floral tributes to a constable, who was killed in an encounter with the militants in north Kashmir district of Bandipora.
A police spokesperson here this evening said that a wreath laying ceremony was held in District Police Line (DPL) Srinagar, where floral tributes were paid to the martyr Zaheer Abbas Khan, who gave supreme sacrifice of his life with fighting militants during an encounter at Hajin in Bandipora.
Militants gave slip to security forces after a brief encounter at Hajin during which Khan was killed on Sunday.
“Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh led civil, police and security force officers and jawans in laying the floral wreaths to the body of the martyr,” he said.
He said Khan is survived by aged parents, wife, three minor children 10-year-old Mehtab Zaheer, 8-year-old Manik Ahmad and 5-year-old Sumaira Zaheer. (AGENCIES)
