JAMMU, May 1: Manjit Singh, President of the Jammu and Kashmir Jatt Sabha and former Minister, has called for a CBI probe into the murder of a civilian in Greater Kailash, Jammu, alleging collusion between land grabbers and local police.
The incident, which occurred on April 30, resulted in the death of Avtar Singh, a resident of Mango Wali in RS Pura.
In a detailed statement, Singh, alongside Sabha Vice President Taranjit Singh Tony, and other local leaders, claimed that Avtar Singh was killed by associates of a notorious land grabber, purportedly in connection with a disputed land purchase.
They asserted that the murder took place in the presence of police officers, who allegedly allowed the attackers to escape.
The leaders have demanded the arrest of the involved police and revenue officials, accusing them of aiding and abetting the criminals.
They further urged that all implicated officials, including the Police Post Incharge and the SHO of the concerned station, be charged in the murder case.
The Sabha has appealed directly to Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, seeking decisive action against those responsible for Avtar Singh’s death and the ongoing issues with land grabbing in the region.
They emphasized the need for a peaceful resolution and justice for the victim’s family, who had hoped to live quietly in the land they purchased at Greater Kailash.
