MUMBAI, Feb 4: Senior NC leader and former Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly, Haji Mubarak Gul today attended an august ceremony organized by Kashmir to Kerala Social Foundation at Mumbai.
The event was organized to recognize prodigious heroes and leaders from different sectors in the country, celebrating their spirit of leadership and excellence in their respective fields.
Mubarak Gul was chief guest on the occasion and he presented awards to about 20 known personalities for their achievement in their respective fields. The awardees included Mushtaq Chaya (prominent businessman) and Deepali Watal (Artist), both from J&K State.
Addressing the audience on the occasion, Mubarak Gul talked about calamities like floods because of humans disturbing the nature and unplanned development, deforestation, lllegal occupation of wetlands. “We must start initiatives to preserve environment on social and individual level,” he stressed.
He further said that Drug abuse continues to be the major health problem in the country and the first and the foremost solution is the prevention. “The Govt as well as the social organizations have an important role to play. “Strong laws against drug peddlers and proper awareness, rehabilitation of drug abuse victims is the need of the hour,” he said.
Mubarak Gul also talked about Tourism and safety of tourists in J&K State. He said that Jammu & Kashmir State is the safest destination for tourists especially women. “J&K is the only state in country with no crime against any tourist/visitors and this proves the spirit of Kashmiriyat which believes in humanity, love and harmony,” Gul said and added that national media should stop propagating lies about Kashmir.
Mubarak Gul suggested cultural exchange programs between students of other States and J&K to understand different cultures.
He appreciated the activities of K&K Foundation to encourage social services and social activism. He termed Prince Vaidyan , president K&K Social Foundation as an institution in himself for his contributions in the field of social work, art, culture, communal harmony and peace.
