JAMMU, June 20: Acting strictly against the unauthorised absence from their duties, the Health and Medical Education Department of J&K Government today terminated the services of 112 doctors.
The Government issued four termination notices in this regard against those doctors who remained absent for a long period from their service without any authorisation. Of the terminated doctors, 12 were dismissed for their unauthorised absence during their probation period and the 100 others for staying away from work for different durations ranging from 2 to 17 years.

The terminated 112 doctors belonged to Director Health Services (DHS), Jammu as well as Kashmir.
The orders stated that notices were served to these doctors by DHS (Jammu/Kashmir) and in some cases also by the Administrative Department, wherein, an opportunity was given to them to resume their duties immediately.
It said that the doctors neither replied to notice nor reported back for their duties and this act on their part was a voluntary act making them liable to be discharged from services on account of unauthorized absence from duties.

Review Committee set up
The Government of J&K today ordered the constitution of a Review Committee for suspension cases of faculty members of Government Medical Colleges (GMCs) of J&K (Medical Education).
The order in this regard by the Health and Medical Education (H&ME) Department of J&K Government stated that the Review Committee will comprise Administrative Secretary, H&ME Department; Concerned Principal of the GMC (as the case may be); Director Finance, H&ME Department; Additional Secretary H&ME Department and Additional Secretary (Law), H&ME Department.
It further mentioned that the concerned Under Secretary of H&ME Department shall present the case before the Review Committee with all the necessary documents.
